Local Food, Drink & Shops

There are a plethora of cafes, bars and pubs all within an easy reach of The Townhouse.

Below are some of our favourites!

Pubs

Duke of Wellington
Specialist beers and ales plus great atmosphere. Nice garden with outdoor log burner to keep the chill off. Great music nights as well. If you’re visiting over lockdown they also do a home delivery service.

Old Star Ale & Cider House
The Old Star is a friendly micro pub serving highest quality beer and cider. Super cosy but small! Blink and you’ll miss it.

The Bridge Pub
If it’s summertime and you fancy chilling by the river, then this is the place to go. Massive outdoor area with heated beach huts to sit in if the weather is a bit off. We love their Sunday lunches!

Further Afield

Shepard & Dog
Nestled deep in the South Downs about a twenty minute drive from Shoreham. You really feel like you’re in another world here. Cosy in the winter and outside bar and seating next the natural spring in the summer. Plenty of spectacular walks nearby to walk off the calories.

Carrot’s Cafe
Only a fifteen minute cycle ride east along the coast. In simple terms it’s a greasy spoon on the beach with sea views. Located within Shoreham Port.

East Beach Cafe
Award winning dining on the beach in Littlehampton (about 35 mins away). The striking architecture has also made it’s mark in the design world. Take some time to explore the protected sand dunes on the west side of the harbour entrance.

Perch
A great cafe in Lancing, a thirty minute walk west along the beach from Shoreham. Walk up an appetite then refuel with one of their breakfasts or lunches, and one of the best views on the south coast.

Dark Star Brewery
Award-winning brewery (they actually used to own the Duke Of Wellington pub, see above). Their brewery tours and fully stocked shop are well worth a visit.
