Outdoor Activities

If you’re looking for a an active getaway, Shoreham-by-Sea has so much to offer. South Downs National Park, Downs Link cycle path, the River Adur and the English Channel, are all within a short drive or cycle ride of the property. Also we have the Shoreham Beach boardwalk and coastal cycle path all on our doorstep.

The South Downs National Park is within easy reach of Shoreham. It offers beautiful views of the Sussex Weald to the north, and sea to the south. Chanctonbury Ring, Devil’s Dyke and Cissbury Ring are all well worth paying a visit, offering some of the best views of the area, plus a fascinating history.

The South Downs also has plenty of mountain bike trails, hiking routes, National Trust properties that are all perfect for day trippers. There’s also hang-gliding and paragliding for the more adventurous.

Visible from the rear of the house is the River Adur providing great opportunities for canoeing, paddle boarding and kayaking. There are plenty of local launch sites to access the water from.

And finally less than a minutes walk to the south of the house is the sea. This is predominantly a shingle beach, but at low tide large expanses of sand are visible, providing a lovely gentle-rise sea bed for shallow swimming, which is very suitable for children during the summer months. Hardy year-round swimmers can be seen braving the waters even in the depths of winter. Our beach is very popular with kite-surfers as conditions are some of the best in the world. The beach is great for paddle-boarding and surfing too.
